  • Major Privacy Concern

Giving a company access to everything you type on your phone is insane to me personally. If you don’t care about your privacy, go for it I guess. I’ve been using the website for creative writing though and it is useful but extremely rudimentary. It’s impossible to organize your docs as you can’t create folders. That’s baffling to me. It’s 2020. It also seems impossible to write without the “assistant” wanting to interrupt you constantly and then losing connection, needing to reload the page. I stopped using it for the most part because of this and I kind of regret my premium sub. It’s just not worth the money in my opinion.

  • Not the same as the ad

In the advertisement, it shows way more efficiency, the actual thing takes forever to load and it doesn’t correct me on clear mistakes, wouldn’t recommend downloading. But hell, it is a mobile ad, what am I to expect?

I’d love to disable the keyboard on my iPad. It’s a nuisance.
  • In Regards to Full Access Request...

Attempt #2, after noticing that my first posting of this review had mysteriously disappeared. To be clear, I have not even used this app due to its full access request. It is a shame that this review becomes necessary to write without even giving the app itself a chance. So here goes... I read a few reviews before downloading the app for myself just to get an idea of what the most pertinent benefits and downsides were. One of the top reviews in protest of the full access request became the most noticeable to me. I read it along with the developer response and with the latter is where the problem lies. The developer’s response attempted to quell the complaint by stating, “Grammerly is blocked from accessing any field marked sensitive (such as passwords and credit card fields), so in fact, the keyboard cannot transmit that information to Grammerly.” Now, allow me to quote Apple’s statement, found just under the option to grant full access, on what third party keyboards really do have access to, “These keyboards can access all of the data you type, including bank accounts and credit card numbers, street addresses, as well as other personal and sensitive information.” If you read on in this statement, you’ll also find, “... the keyboard can also collect and transmit that information to the keyboard developer’s servers.” You may then say to simply turn off full access when dealing with private information and turn it back on when you’re done, but I would respond with one final quote from Apple’s statement, “If you disable Full Access for a third party keyboard, and then re-enable it, the keyboard’s developer may be able to access, collect and transmit what was typed while the network access was disabled.” So, in essence, it seems Grammerly not only requests access to your information under the guise of necessity, but is also willing to lie about what they have access to for the purpose of saving face. In conclusion, I advise against the use of this app.
  • Needs glide/swipe typing

Grammarly on Android has swipe typing, so why isn't it in the iOS version? Grammarly is wonderful, and I would love to see more people use it. It occasionally makes mistakes, but so does MS Word. The one major feature this keyboard lacks is glide/swipe typing. I find swiping extremely more efficient, and I had to uninstall Grammarly because I can't go back to key-by-key mobile typing.

We should be able to access our documents from our iPhone also instead of just the keyboard. Not just on a laptop or desktop. Because their are documents on Grammerly that we want to access but can’t because their is only a Grammerly keyboard.

It replaces properly spelled common words with other words. Will do this with as little as a single word entry. Removed and confirmed it was the cause of the problem.
